Influenza Season
Influenza Season
Geraldton District Hospital would like to give members of our community some helpful tips on how to stay healthy during the flu season.
- Get the flu shot.
- Wash your hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer thoroughly and often, especially after touching/blowing your nose. Good hand hygiene is the best way to prevent the spread of all flu viruses.
- Cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve when you cough or sneeze (i.e.: into your elbow or shirt). This prevents spreading your germs to others.
- Stay home when you are ill.
- If caring for someone who is ill, make sure that you wash your hands often.
- Avoid large crowds of people where viruses can spread easily.
- Keep commonly used surfaces clean and disinfected by using a household cleaner; these surfaces include door handles, light switches, telephones and keyboards.
Also, to protect the health of our patient and residents please DO NOT visit the Acute Care or Long-Term Care units if you are ill.
Thank you for your cooperation.
