Board of Directors Approve 2011/2012 Capital Budget

The Annual Capital Budget planning process commenced four months ago.  At that time, managers consulted with their staff regarding departmental equipment and renovation needs.  Quotes and estimates were obtained and all items were prioritized.  The Board has subsequently reviewed the extensive list totalling almost $1,500,000 and has granted final approval as follows:

  • Equipment $499,450
  • Renovation project $899,000

A significant equipment purchase will be in the Acute Care Unit for a new central cardiac monitoring system at a cost of $133,579.  To improve infection control and safety for staff, the Long-Term Care hopper will be replaced with a Tornado Thermal Disinfectant at a cost of $16,717.  For the comfort of residents, 13 mattresses will be replaced at a cost of $6,500.  The Rehabilitation Department will be getting a new body weight support walker at a cost of $16,700.  The telephone system will be replaced at a cost of $77,662.

The focus of the renovation project will be in the Acute Care Unit ventilation system.  The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will be providing financial assistance of $209,141 to help offset the costs of the renovation project.
