The charge nurse has the responsibility to curtail and/or cancel visiting privileges in the following circumstances:

  • If the number of visitors in the room is determined detrimental to the comfort of the patient or to the other patient(s) in the room. Please respect the request to leave as it is in the patient’s best interest.
  • The visiting privileges may be restricted or cancelled if requested by the patient or the other patient(s) occupying the room.
  • The visiting privileges may be restricted or cancelled by the charge nurse depending on the condition of the patient or the condition of the other patient(s) occupying the room.
  • Visitors may be requested at any time to leave the room so that required medical/nursing care can be properly administered to the patient(s) occupying the room.

It is important that the visit is a pleasant one for both the patient and the visitor(s).
