                                               Geraldton District Hospital

Receives

Accreditation with Commendation

Over the last three years, managers, staff, physicians and volunteers have been meeting in numerous committees to review compliance with accreditation standards.

In June 2014, surveyors from Accreditation Canada were on site for four days to ensure Geraldton District Hospital (GDH) complied with 1,329 standards.  The initial results indicated that 1,266 standards were met, 25 were unmet and 38 were not applicable.  Consequently, the Hospital was awarded an “Accreditation” status.

Although this was a very good result, it was felt that eight of the unmet standards were misinterpreted.  Management submitted an appeal with evidence.  Accreditation Canada reviewed the appeal and upgraded the accreditation status to “Accreditation with Commendation”.

The Hospital continues to work on the remaining 17 unmet standards.

Thank you to everyone for your ongoing efforts and dedication to ensure quality patient-centered care is provided to the community.
